Abstract

Surabaya is a concentrated of HIV areas, number of HIV- Infected are increasing rapidly, especially for pregnant women. Prevention of mother to child transmission program is one of government program that aimed at reducing the number of child born with HIV. Community based model is a method that is used to increase the community empowerment as preventing HIV from mother to child transmission. This research was Quasi experiment design with nonequivalent control group design to determine the effectiveness of HIV prevention training based on community based modelon commitments to increase the pregnant women visiting to prevented mother to child transmission program (PMTCT). Total sample was 74 respondents by using cluster random sampling. Five nurses ware as the treatment and control groups, 16 community health workers ware as the treatment and control groups, and 16 pregnant women ware as the treatment and control groups. The result of this research is significant influence of HIV prevention training based on community based model on prevention, testing and diagnostic, treatment and commitment of nurses, community health workers and pregnant women with P value= 0,000 < 0,05. Different test results are significant differences between the groups of respondents, but there are a few of variables that are significant differences between variables. It means that the variables have the same value. Effectiveness of HIV prevention training based on community based model on commitment to increase pregnant women visiting to PMTCT can be applied in health service especially in community health center. Community health center is the first level of service that is close to the society, so that the CBM can be used to improve the community health status.
