Abstract

Introduction: Diphtheria is a disease caused by Corynebacterium diphtheriae. in 2012 this disease became epidemic in several regions of East Java, including Bangkalan, Situbondo, Jombang and Surabaya. Method: This study was an applied research using secondary data drawn from Puskesmas Bangkalan in 2013. Results: The results showed that the human resources versus the target number PIN (p = 0.048) and immunization coverage have a relationship with the incidence of diphtheria in Bangkalan (p = 0.041). Discussion: High immunization coverage is expected to reduce the incidence of the disease are immunized. The full immunization coverage have a significant influence on the case of diphtheria. The results of this study are expected in improving health promotion in order to reduce cases of diphtheria in East Java Key word : dihtheria, epidemic
