Abstract

Menopause is defined as one of problems that occur in woman's life. The numbers of menopausal women in Indonesia and around the world are highly increasing every year.Although the numbers of menopausal women who have experiencing anxiety are very high, anxiety can be overcome with family support. According to Green's theory, behavior is influenced by predisposing, reinforcing and enabling factors. Family support is included in reinforcing factors that can influence woman’s anxiety in facing menopause. The purpose of this study was to prove the relationship between the family supports with the menopausal women anxiety in RW 09 Tropodo, Sidoarjo. This research used analytic descriptive research with cross sectional design. The population was all women who experiencing menopause in RW 09. Total samples were 51 respondents with purposive sampling. The independent variable was family support. The dependent variable was menopausal women anxiety. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed by using spearmen-rho-test with significance level (p≤0,05). Result showed relation between the family supports with the anxiety in menopausal women with significance level (p= 0.000) and correlation level (r = -0.46). Family supports have a strong relation with the menopausal women anxiety in RW 09 Tropodo, Sidoarjo. Further research should give the intervention that can reduce anxiety in menopausal women.
